thesis and garburators

Mar. 5th, 2007 | 12:09 pm

So....the after school special lesson of the week is that it is VERY bad if one dumps gravel from a fish tank down a garburator. Yesterday, while I was taking a nap shelly did that and it led to an evening of antics. I played amatuer plumber but the garburator won and we had to get a plumber to come this morning. Just how did he fix if you might ask? He sucked out as many rocks as he could with a vacuum. A little poking around with a screw driver and we have a garburator once again.

So.....while all of the antics of the garburator have been going on I still had to get a chapter of my thesis done for today. I have 12 pages and just need a few more paragraphs to make it flow a little better and tie up loose ends. It is a little rough but I think that I can make it pretty strong once I get some feedback.

Remember that a broom can help loosen minor clogs in a garburator and that vacuums are an awesome tool for nearly any task

back to the grind.........

hipster PDA

Nov. 19th, 2006 | 10:02 pm

Gotta try this and see if it helps me organize my tasks better. I love outlook but I find its task section is limited in terms of the prioritization of tasks.

I am printing out my first hipster PDA tomorrow at work. I think having it as small cue cards will help me keep my tasks a little more organized.

financial checklist

Nov. 19th, 2006 | 08:45 pm

THe end of the yar is coming rapidly. Before the madness of christmas spending starts it might be a good idea to take stock of year's spending and figure out how to make things even better financially next year. Check out this article which gives a great overview of how to conduct and annual checkup : http://financialplan.about.com/od/personalfinancebasics/a/AnnualCheckup.htm

check out this debt to income ratio calculator : http://financialplan.about.com/library/weekly/DebtToIncomeWorksheet.htm

I have found both of these tools to be useful. Especially in terms of my long term financial planning.

5 successes/ learnings of the day

Nov. 8th, 2006 | 01:00 am

1. job enrichment is a very individual thing. An incredibly repititious/monotonous job can be rewarding to someone who values stability and places their focus on activities outside of work.

2. a small act of kindness can mean a lot to someone. A single flower can change the course of someone's day.

3. having and working regularly with a mentor is amazing. feedback, feedback, feedback

4. taking the time to build relationships with a wide variety of people. you never know what adventures your accountant might have had

5. finding life hacks audio books

Another great day. :)
